PRESIDENT’S REPORT
It really isn’t easy running an association, and at
times it can be quite a difficult task.
We don’t always get it right every time, but we all try extremely hard.
But I must point out that each and every decision is made with our
members best interests at heart.
I do personally feel however that the committee members of 2011 have
achieved some amazing results and contributions to NBNA.
This comment is based on the fact that we have provided our members with a number of developmental opportunities in netball. In summary:
NSW Netball Level 1 Umpiring Course
2 General Umpiring Lectures
NSW Netball Foundation Coaching Course
NSW Netball Coaching Development Course
First time ever an 11 years training squad
Our inaugural 12 Years Development Squad
Babble Clinic
Opportunities for our members to trial for
representative teams from ages 12 to adult.
This is the first time ever that NBNA has supported 7 representative
teams.
Each week our committee members give up their valuable time to attend to the day-to-day running of the association, they also attend regular meetings, co-ordinate Saturday netball and Twilight and participate in the planning and co-ordination of Representative and State Championship Netball. Their dedication and passion to their netball cannot be understated and I would like to personally thank the following people:
Nadina Potter – Secretary
Amberly Keating – Assistant Secretary
Helen Scott – Fixtures Convenor
Gillian Waugh – Assistant Treasurer
Anne Cram – Property Officer
Elizabeth Pettit – Senior Registrar
Joanne Stefanish – Junior Registrar
Sue McIntyre – Junior Coordinator
Katrina Whitely – Coaches Convenor
Debbie Bradley – Representative Liaison Officer
Jessica Stefanish – Umpires Convenor
Dianne and Tony Newton – Our Canteen Coordinators
And lastly, Judy Calder our Treasurer
After 26 years of volunteering at NBNA, Judy is
taking what she calls “Long Service Leave”.
I would personally like to wish Judy all the best and thank her for her
valuable contributions over this timeframe. Giving up ones personal time
to benefit the community is very generous, but to do it for 26 years is
truly amazing. I think the people of Nelson Bay have been very lucky to
have such a passionate person like Judy involved, and would agree it is
a commitment that has been equaled by few.
Thank you Judy!
Also, this year the association was fortunate enough
to gain the support of the local community.
I would like to thank the following Sponsors:
Refused and Reused Recycling
Soldiers Point Bowling Club
These two sponsors have kindly donated funds for the
replacement of netball posts and rings.
These netball posts and rings are very much needed by our Netta players.
At present we are prevented from lowering the rings due to OH & S
restrictions.
NBNA would like to thank both of these sponsors for their generosity.
We are working very hard with council at present to ensure that these
posts get replaced without delay.
Colin & Ilona Saad – Seniors Contribution
Lessa Colins and Andrew Duff from Baker’s Delight – representative BBQ
Whilst you may not be able to see any capital works that have been completed this year. We have been in discussion with Port Stephens Council to accommodate needs and to develop the surrounds of the association. Our planning for 2012 includes: replacement of netball posts and rings, drainage improvements along side courts 4 and 6, and the expansion of our store room to accommodate our growing needs. Council is very receptive to our needs, and we hope to have a firm agreement and time lines in place shortly for these improvements.
I’d like to conclude by thanking NBNA members. Without our players, coaches and the support network, our association would not exist. I hope everyone has had a successful, fun and rewarding season.
Many Thanks
Karin Mcntyre
